Waste Disposal
Dorset
Business Waste only focuses on dealing with commercial waste, meaning that we’re experts in dealing with collections, disposal and recycling in the most effective, efficient and affordable way possible. We are also focused on maintaining our own superior green credentials by ensuring that the environmental impact of business’ trade waste is minimised. This is achieved through effective recycling procedures, something that is incredibly important in a county where recycling rates currently hover around the 50 per cent mark and each resident creates around 500kg of waste each year. We are on-hand to help Dorset’s wide range of businesses, including those serving the tourist industry and those involved in the marine leisure sector.
Recycling
Dorset
The county of Dorset is home to more than 745,000 people and includes the major towns of Poole, Bournemouth and the county town of Dorchester. In terms of business, the county is home to a wide variety of companies, ranging from world-class marine leisure organisations to local firms focusing on delivering services to boost the thriving tourism economy. Of course, all of these businesses create waste, meaning a huge problem for the council’s refuse programme and growing demand for a comprehensive trade waste recycling, collection and disposal service.
The county covers a huge area of 1,024 square miles, giving an indication of the sheer number of businesses which could make use of effective and reliable waste collections and disposal services. It used to be that agriculture was Dorset’s principal industry but, today, the county is home to high-profile companies such as BAE Systems, JP Morgan and Sunseeker International. Tourism is also a major industry, making adequate waste disposal of high importance to maintain the area’s attractiveness.
Trust
Business Waste
The three ports of Weymouth, Portland and Poole, along with smaller harbours in West Bay, Wareham, Lyme Regis, Swanage and Christchurch, bring in a large amount of international tourism and trade and the marine leisure sector in Weymouth and Portland received a significant boost when the area played host to sailing events during the 2012 Olympic games.
The tourism sector provides jobs for 37,500 people and almost four million people take a break in the county each year. Manufacturing is another major industry, indicating the variety of businesses operating in Dorset – and the potential for the creation of vast amounts of trade waste.

Yes, Business Waste has received Alcumus ISOQAR certification for:
- ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality management systems
- ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental management systems
These are both in the scope of registration for the provision of waste management brokerage.
-
What is ISO certification and why is it important?
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental group that uses experts to set global standards for providing innovation and solutions to worldwide challenges. ISO certification confirms a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure meets the requirements for standardisation and quality assurance.
ISO certification is provided by a third party – in our case Alcumus ISOQAR, which provides UKAS accredited ISO certification. The standards provide benchmarks for businesses to meet, ensuring achieving ISO certification demonstrates a well-run, stable business that’s ready to grow. There are more than 20,000 management standards, but the two we’ve achieved provide the following benefits:
- ISO 9001: 2015 – helps put our customers first.
- ISO 14001: 2015 – reduces our environmental impact.
