Waste Collection
Tower Hamlets
Tower Hamlets is a big, complicated borough with everything from busy major roads to pedestrianised side streets. Fortunately, Business Waste only employs local teams who know how to get from your business to the best local recycling centres to use for your trade waste.
Business Waste offers the lowest prices for trade collection in Tower Hamlets. After we’ve worked with your business to produce a waste disposal plan, we’ll provide you with all the containers you need, whether a simple wheelie bin or a skip.
After collection, we’ll separate your trade waste into recyclable and non-recyclable items. We’ll then dispose of it in the most environmentally friendly way possible, always with the aim of producing zero landfill.

Waste Disposal
Tower Hamlets
Due to its size, recycling is a constant challenge for the borough of Tower Hamlets. The sheer diversity and number of businesses in the area mean it has broad recycling needs. The general shortage of space in London though, means there are few recycling facilities that handle business waste within easy reach.
Fortunately, Business Waste can help businesses recycle waste cleanly and efficiently with the minimum of stress, in turn saving them money on expensive landfill taxes. Whether you own an independent shop on Brick Lane or have an office in Canary Wharf, we can process all kinds of recycling, including paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, wood, WEEE (electrical waste such as appliances), garden waste, biomass and soil.
Recycling
Tower Hamlets
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets covers much of the traditional ‘East End’ of the capital, as well as parts of the City.
Situated on the north of the River Thames, between London’s financial centre and the site of the 2012 London Olympics, Tower Hamlets has a rich and colourful history and a diverse and vibrant present.
It is striking in its cultural and economic diversity. Canary Wharf is home to the European headquarters of a host of leading global banks and businesses. A number of major markets can also be found in the area, as well as a thriving community of small, independent businesses, street food merchants and up-and-coming restaurants and bars, most notably around the bustling Brick Lane area.
Trust
Business Waste
Estimates put the population at 295,200 people which, when combined with Tower Hamlets’ diverse range of businesses and the logistical problems common in the capital, makes waste collection and disposal a challenge for the area. Despite the size of the borough, it is only served by one major recycling centre. This centre doesn’t take business waste and finding an alternative can be problematic for eco-conscious companies.

Question?
-
Can I add an additional bin to my service?
Yes, of course. We can provide extra bins for new waste streams to encourage recycling. Or if you’re simply producing more waste of the same type, we can add an extra or larger bin to your delivery and collection services if you’re at capacity.
-
Do you supply a duty of care certificate?
Yes, we provide a duty of care certificate (also known as a waste transfer note (WTN)) free of charge as part of your service agreement. This is included for free every time we collect any type of waste from your premises. Duty of care certificates are a legal requirement and licensed waste carriers can complete them for free – so you should never be charged for one.
Find out more about them in our guide to waste transfer notes.
-
How often will my bin be emptied?
We offer our customers a choice of daily, weekly, or fortnightly collections – so your bins are emptied as often as you want. Our expert team can advise on the correct waste collection schedule based on the type and amount of waste you produce and your business needs – such as your bin storage space and location.
-
What time will my bin be collected?
Bin collection times vary depending on your location, waste type, number and size of bins, and other factors. We work with all our customers to ensure your waste is always collected on time when it’s suitable for you and the licensed waste carrier. We can work around access times to arrange collections at convenient times.

A range of two and four-wheel bins are available to store all sorts of waste on your premises. Explore our bins to see all available bins and information about what types and amounts of waste they can hold.

How can we reduce our waste?

Is Business Waste ISO certified?
Yes, Business Waste has received Alcumus ISOQAR certification for:
- ISO 9001: 2015 – Quality management systems
- ISO 14001: 2015 – Environmental management systems
These are both in the scope of registration for the provision of waste management brokerage.
-
What is ISO certification and why is it important?
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, non-governmental group that uses experts to set global standards for providing innovation and solutions to worldwide challenges. ISO certification confirms a management system, manufacturing process, service, or documentation procedure meets the requirements for standardisation and quality assurance.
ISO certification is provided by a third party – in our case Alcumus ISOQAR, which provides UKAS accredited ISO certification. The standards provide benchmarks for businesses to meet, ensuring achieving ISO certification demonstrates a well-run, stable business that’s ready to grow. There are more than 20,000 management standards, but the two we’ve achieved provide the following benefits:
- ISO 9001: 2015 – helps put our customers first.
- ISO 14001: 2015 – reduces our environmental impact.
